What was in my camera bag

Leave it to me to be different. Most photographers post a “what’s in my camera bag ” photo to show everyone their tools of the trade. I’m posting this one to show what was in my bag that was stolen from my car. All of this equipment was in a large Manfrotto camera backpack. Sony A65, A55, and NEX 5N camera bodies. Sony 50mm 1.4, Minolta 50mm 1.7,  Tamron 28-200mm, Sony 75-300mm, NEX 17-55mm lenses.  NEX to Alpha adapter, Sony HVL-F58AM flash, assorted brushes, batteries, filters, bounce cards, business cards, glasses, etc

The saga continues…..

Film photography is still alive

No matter how long I continue to photograph things, this camera is still my favorite. With the elimination and decline in the use of film, I’m being motivated to shoot film more to show how great 35mm film captures images. I am preparing to send out four rolls of film to http://www.darkroom.com to be processed. I never used them before so this will also be a review of their services. Once the rolls come back from processing, I will do another post showing the best images. I believe that even in this digital world, film is still a useful media to use. Happy Shooting.

Glass recycling

Not exactly what you were looking for after reading the title of this post.  I’m calling it “glass recycling” because I like to incorporate some of the old Minolta analog lenses into my Sony digital photography. The Minolta MD lens used in this shot is well over 30 years old.  I bought it new in 1981 when I purchased my first film SLR.  Happy New Year!!!!!

Camera phone to the rescue

Just because your don’t have your normal camera rig with you is no excuse not to get the shot. Camera phones have come a long way and are capable of capturing decent images. Be creative with your camera phone. As Chase Jarvis once said, “The best camera is the one that is with you”.  If you get a chance read his book with the same title as the quote I just referenced. Happy holidays and happy shooting..

Visible Metaphors

A metaphor by definition is ” a figure of speech makes an implicit, implied or hidden comparison between two things or objects that are poles apart from each other but have some characteristics common between them. I present the below picture to be used as visible metaphor depicting the act of leaving your past behind as you enter into a new phase of life.
